Applus+ was selected by Metro de Madrid to make inspections through non-destructive testing (NDT) of different key elements of its rolling stock. This collaboration demonstrates Metro de Madrid’s commitment to the maintenance and continuous improvement of its train fleet to provide quality service and safety to users.
The service awarded to Applus+ includes the inspection of critical components such as bogie frames and fitting areas in axle elements. This is carried out through magnetic particle testing (MT) and liquid penetrant testing (PT), two techniques known for their effectiveness in detecting potential defects or irregularities that could compromise the structural integrity of the rolling stock.
By inspecting the areas joining stringers and girts, as well as certain critical areas depending on the bogie series, it is possible to guarantee the safety and reliability of Metro de Madrid ‘s rail system.
