Be-access: accessibility assessments for an inclusive design

TYPSA IS ACTIVELY RESPONDING TO THE NEED OF INTEGRATING ACCESSIBILITY REQUIREMENTS IN TRANSPORT FROM THE DESIGN STAGE AND HAS DEVELOPED AN INNOVATION PROJECT WITH INCLUSIVE TECHNOLOGY THAT CONTRIBUTES TO ENSURING A TRANSPORT FOR ALL.

The innovation proposal facilitates the users’ involvement through testing and assessment from the design stage. The BE-access tool allows the participation of all parties involved in the evaluation of the station design before it is built, through a virtual experience. Once the station is built and commissioned, BE-access can extend its functionality and become a user information tool via the operator’s website.

The development and testing of the application have been carried out in the Amado Granell-Montolivet underground station within the project extension of line 10 of the Valencia Metro, with the collaboration of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana.

BE-access offers an interactive tour through all spaces of the station and their assessment. The user evaluation includes aspects such as: the clear location of accessible vertical routes, identification of the tactile routes, easy access to accessible ticket vending equipment, effective signage system, accessible turnstiles line, identification of areas on platforms to access accessible areas in trains, etc

TYPSA has developed BE-access as an innovation tool that supports and promotes the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 10 and 11, in the social, economic, and political inclusion of all and the access to safe, affordable, accessible, and sustainable transport systems for all.
