The aim is to improve rail freight transport and process management that are currently carried out manually, such as data recording and analysis.
Rail transport is one of the sectors in which greater digitalisation and automation would have a direct impact on the sustainability of the entire logistics chain. Indra seeks to contribute to this need for digitalization through its Intelligent Railway Gate (IRG) solution, which enables analysing information using the latest advanced technologies, such as IoT, or Artificial Intelligence. The aim is to improve rail freight transport and process management that are currently carried out manually, such as data recording and analysis.
Indra’s innovative proposal is to incorporate IRG solution to monitor and identify number plates and loads, which would speed up inspection tasks and the traceability of all trains and wagons and help detect abnormal situations that may pose a risk to infrastructure. Other benefits of the solution are cutting down on the time spent in reference corridors and at borders, resulting in cost and energy savings. Currently, Indra has also prepared this technology to communicate wirelessly with infrastructure and be able to act on control and signalling elements and equipment through standards.
