“Goods to Rail” in Bilbao

por Julian

Last June 27th, Mafex took part in a new session with the campaign “Goods to Rail” where entities and companies highlighted the value of this European initiative that seeks to raise awareness on the need to create a supply chain free of CO2 emissions, where the railway is the backbone.

On this occasion, the event was promoted by BilbaoPort, CSP Spain Marcotran Transportes Internacionales S.L., MedWay UniportBilbao and Transfesa Logistics.

Ainara González, responsible for International Policy and Institutional Relations  at Mafex highlighted during her speech that “Our industry’s commitment to this great challenge is absolute” and reaffirmed that “we must continue to raise awareness both among public institutions and the rest of private companies of the need to combine rail and road in order to reduce CO2 emissions”.

“Goods to Rail” once again highlights the need to raise awareness of the importance of reducing transport pollution, which is responsible for around 30% of total emissions in Europe. This proposal underlines the urgency of betting on intermodality and the transfer of freight to rail, with the aim of reaching the environmental goals set for 2030.

Mafex, which currently comprises 118 companies, including the main manufacturers of rolling stock and companies providing rail solutions and services, joined the “Goods to Rail” campaign 2 years ago.
