New tools for on-board video surveillance

GMV HAS DEVELOPED A BACK-OFFICE TOOL FOR MANAGING ON-BOARD CCTV SYSTEMS FROM THE CONTROL CENTER, AS AN EVOLUTION OF THE DV-REC ® PRODUCT PRESENT IN ON-BOARD SYSTEMS IN TRAIN, METRO AND TRAM THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

Within the ITS systems for rail transport, it is possible to distinguish those related to critical services (safe movement of the train) and those related to non-critical operational services or assistance to exploitation. The latter include on-board CCTV video surveillance systems.

GMV has developed a back-office tool for managing on-board CCTV systems from the control center, as an evolution of the DV-REC ® product present in on-board systems in train, metro and tram throughout the world. It is a cloud-native solution based on microservices. This architecture ensures high availability, scalability, resilience, and load balancing. The web interface guarantees access from anywhere through a browser, even from mobile devices, with full flexibility of the user space and a professional design following the Material Design lines. The tool allows various functions such as real-time video viewing (streaming), downloading and viewing of recorded videos, CCTV system status monitoring on board trains, and configuration of system operating parameters.

From the control center, the user can view images emitted from the on-board equipment in real time. The backend creates a direct connection to the cameras for that purpose, by using one of the video streams available with the RTSP streaming protocol. Secure authentication is performed between the backend and the cameras. Streaming video is transferred to the web application using the WebRTP protocol and presented to the user, allowing multiple users to view the same camera at the same time.
