Alstom Foundation projects in Spain and Portugal

Alstom foundation will support ‘women in action’, a training and self-employment project among women at risk of social exclusion in the area of lisboa. In addition, a new campaign will be carried out in madrid, barcelona and bizkaia as part of the ‘plastic beings’ environmental awareness programme.

Founded in 2007, the Alstom Foundation supports and finances projects proposed by Alstom employees and developed in partnership with local NGOs. The Foundation’s projects revolve around 4 axes: access to mobility, environmental protection, access to energy and water, and socio-economic development. For this latest edition, the Foundation’s Board of Directors received 240 proposals from 44 countries. Of these, the Foundation will fund 36 projects, two of which promoted by Alstom employees in Spain and Portugal

Entrepreneurship for women at risk of social exclusion in the Lisbon area
In the district of Loures, near Lisbon, the Alstom Foundation will support the “Women in Action” project, developed with the Portuguese NGO Ajuda em Açao. This initiative, which aims to promote self-employment among women at risk of social exclusion, will set up a training school in sewing and tailoring techniques, as well as business management workshops and courses.

Environmental education for plastic reduction
In Spain, Alstom Foundation will support an environmental education programme developed by Vivo Sano Foundation to raise awareness among children, families and teachers about the problems caused by plastic waste. The project has an estimated direct reach of more than 2,200 students, 430 teachers and around 2,000 families.
