In a context of increasing digitalization of the railway sector and demand for connected solutions, InspectRail introduces an innovative system for monitoring train-to-ground wireless communications. Specifically designed for continuous network supervision from operating railway vehicles, this system ensures both efficient and safe service.
This system assesses the quality of service in general networks (e.g., 3G-5G) and critical communications such as TETRA, CBTC, and ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System), anticipating the transition to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) based on 5G. This innovation is key to adapting infrastructure to emerging technologies and maintaining high quality in railway service.
InspectRail, in collaboration with the Ceit technology center and ETS, the Basque railway infrastructure manager, is working on the industrialization and validation of this system in operational environments.
This initiative not only improves the reliability of communications in railway operations but also facilitates decision-making regarding the deployment of new networks, providing detailed technical analysis that supports investment in dedicated infrastructure.
