In this edition of Rail Live! 2024, the event’s collaborating entities offer delegates a wide variety of technical tours, designed to closely show the latest innovations and best practices in the railway sector. These visits will allow attendees to explore key facilities, technologies, and projects in the sector, providing them with an enriching and direct learning experience that will complement the sessions and activities of the meeting.
ETPCO Renfe in Zaragoza
This technical visit offers a complete overview of ETPCO Renfe’s facilities in Zaragoza, showing its advanced technologies, such as the two state-of-the-art driving simulators.
During the tour, participants will be able to take a tour of the classrooms where the theoretical classes are taught, thus gaining an understanding of the operation of the training centre, the structure of the courses and the accreditation processes. Finally, once this tour has been completed, the main group will be divided into three smaller subgroups, so that each one can explore and experiment the simulators in a practical way.
Zaragoza Tourist Tour offered by the Convention Bureau- Zaragoza City Council
This visit consists of a guided tour of the historic centre of Zaragoza, one of the largest and most emblematic in Spain.
The picturesque streets and squares, each with its own personality, invite you to a real journey back in time. The first stop will be on Calle Alfonso, one of the main pedestrian streets, which will lead us to the Basilica del Pilar. Next to it, you can explore La Lonja, the first entirely Renaissance building in Zaragoza.
You will also visit the Cathedral of the Savior, known as La Seo. The tour also includes a walk through the Old Town, a visit to the Pablo Gargallo Museum and a tour of the Plaza de la Justicia.
Visit to the Trams of Zaragoza
The Zaragoza Tramway stands out for being the first in Spain to have a Digital Deposit, a pioneering solution worldwide fully developed by CAF. This visit allows us to learn how this technological transformation incorporates advanced tools that guarantee a more efficient and reliable operation and maintenance, reducing costs and opening doors to the use of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
Thanks to a central computer and multiple sensors installed on each tram, the LeadMind digital platform monitors and optimises conditioned-based maintenance of the equipment, improves diagnostics, and facilitates real-time decision-making, preventing recurring breakdowns. In addition, an exhaustive analysis of the energy used is carried out, controlling the power consumed by each system, as well as the percentage of energy recovered and dissipated.
This knowledge makes it possible to optimise energy consumption and reduce it significantly.
Visit to the Zaragoza high-speed CRC
This visit offers a tour of ADIF’s CRC centre in Zaragoza. The CRCs (Traffic Regulation Centre) are the nerve centres of railway traffic management, operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Adif has 19 CRCs in Spain, which manage the circulation of more than two million trains per year in a railway network that is close to 16,000 km long.
Among them, Adif has 4 CRCs for the management of the high-speed network, one of them in Zaragoza, from where traffic on the Madrid-Barcelona-French Border line and the access to the Mediterranean Corridor is regulated.
Also noteworthy is the celebration on November 26th in the afternoon, in the Goya room of the Palacio de La Aljaferia, the reception to the main sponsors, congress delegates, speakers and collaborating entities that will welcome 250 guests and the traditional dinner of the railway industry
Zaragoza City Mobility
You can enjoy a tour of the Mobility City Zaragoza, a technological museum with the latest innovations in mobility from the largest cities in the world. The visit includes access to the Innovation Space, the Experience Space, the Zaha Hadid Bridge, and numerous practical experiences.
