Thales reinforces safety on rail traffic between Ortigueira and Ribadeo

As part of the “Telephone Blocking System Elimination Plan” currently being developed by Adif, the Spanish rail infrastructure authority, Thales has been awarded a contract to coordinate the construction project and carry out the works on the Ortigueira-Ribadeo section of the 740 metric gauge rail link, which connects Ferrol with Pravia. This new contract runs for 27 months and has a budget of more than €20 million.

Thales will replace the current telephone blocking system by an automated system. All interlockings will be remotely controlled from the Centralized Traffic Control Centre in El Berrón, Asturias.
