THE LEADING ROLE THAT THE RAILWAY WILL ASSUME IN THE COMING YEARS, IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE EUROPEAN OBJECTIVES OF BECOMING THE FIRST CLIMATE-NEUTRAL CONTINENT, MAKE IT NECESSARY TO HAVE THE MOST AVANT-GARDE SOLUTIONS ON THE MARKET AND THE ADVICE OF EXPERTS TO ADVANCE IN SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY, BOTH PASSENGERS AND GOODS.

Faced with these new challenges, the Spanish industry is one of the best positioned to respond to the new needs of digital transformation, decarbonization, intermodality or the implementation of new models of relationship with travelers such as mobility as a service.

It is also an innovative sector that invests, on average, 2% of its turnover in R + D + i, and an export lever for small and medium-sized companies through the tractor industries, whose export has reached 90% in some cases.

Mafex’s 93 partners represent a complete value chain, very representative and are highly qualified to respond to the challenges represented by the implementation of the railway of the future: digital, connected and respectful of the environment. These companies represent 82% of Spanish rail exports with a turnover that exceeds 5,500 million euros in this area, in addition to generating around 27,000 jobs.

This chain integrates all the subsectors of the industry, from engineering, consulting, certification and infrastructure, to rolling stock builders who are currently leading pioneering projects. In it there are also a large number of companies specialized in signaling, telecommunications, traffic control, as well as a robust auxiliary industry in equipment and components. It is an integral model in which the high qualification of each of them is combined and that allows them to provide customized solutions with turnkey projects, with the endorsement of having launched the most relevant transport projects around the world, both in high speed and in urban mobility and goods.

The extensive experience acquired in the implementation of the Spanish railway network, one of the most expensive and modern in the world, has been exported to the five continents. This own know-how makes them a leading partner to support transport administrations around the world in the development of new infrastructures, public transport plans, modernization of networks and implementation of the most avant-garde technological advances.
