FROM 7TH-10TH MARCH, MAFEX ATTENDED THE UIC HIGH-SPEED CONGRESS, THE WORLD’S LEADING EVENT ON HIGH-SPEED TRAINS HELD IN MARRAKECH.
In its eleventh edition, the Congress took place in Marrakech and was attended by government officials, transport authorities, railway operators, infrastructure managers and world-leading suppliers.
The event was attended by approximately 1,500 participants from more than 40 countries and a total of 35 exhibitors.
Within the programme of plenary sessions and round tables, topics such as the latest technologies for the development of high speed and developments in planning, construction, operation and safety, among others, were addressed.
Under the motto “High-Speed Rail: the right speed for our planet”, the Congress highlighted the contribution of high-speed railway in the fight against climate change and its role in territorial development. The need to integrate high-speed with the conventional railway to accelerate the modal shift, and with other modes of transport to boost multimodality was also noted, as well as the need to incorporate new financing modalitie.
