THE TELDAT SOLUTION IMPLEMENTED: THE H2-RAIL ROUTER AS A MULTI-SERVICE COMMUNICATION PLATFORM FOR RAILWAY ENVIRONMENTS THAT PROVIDES RELIABLE 4G/LTE AND BROADBAND COMMUNICATIONS OVER WI-FI.

The client wanted to provide 150 trams in the city of Jerusalem with Wi-Fi connectivity for passengers and a comprehensive on-board cybersecurity solution for intrusion detection and prevention. The challenge was to improve the user experience, provide passenger services in a mobility environment and have a secure network while maintaining user connection sessions.

The Teldat solution implemented: the H2-Rail router as a multi-service communication platform for railway environments that provides reliable 4G/LTE and broadband communications over Wi-Fi, with redundancy options, aggregation, and advanced security mechanisms. The Teldat APR2044ax access point, to provide on-board Wi-Fi connectivity, which thanks to its two radio modules offers dual-band connectivity simultaneously, allowing state-of-the-art devices to be connected to the 5 GHz band. Finally, Teldat’s security layer, capable of detecting and predicting intrusion (IDS-IPS), protecting sessions against malware and identifying multiple applications in the cloud for deep inspection of network traffic. This solution enables dynamic analysis and provides automated mitigation to stop targeted attacks.

The result of this challenge led the client to increase its competitiveness and user service offering, a management system for onboard devices from a central point, cost savings thanks to improved Wi-Fi connection quality and a cybersecurity guarantee for the network and passenger sessions.
