METRO WASHINGTON DC DRIVERS WILL PRACTICE WITH DRIVER TRAINING SIMULATORS DEVELOPED BY CITEF.
The first eight simulator cabs are installed at Carmen Turner Facility and the remaining twelve will be deployed in several strategic areas located throughout WMATA’s network. The simulators are a replica of the current Kawasaki 7000 series trains and accurately include the six different lines WMATA currently operates. “We have received the first cabins and are very pleased with the results. This is a big step forward in our training, safety, and service quality goals”, Lucien Barthelemy, Project Manager at WMATA.
Regardless of the challenges that the pandemic has presented, the team has pressed on and overcome the obstacles given by the unique market situation. Jose Manuel Mera, CITEF’s Director: “CITEF is very excited about the results of this project, and has come a long way to provide WMATA with the best possible simulation and training experience”.
